Crashworthiness simulation system is one of the key computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools for the automobile industry and implies two potential conflicting requirements: accuracy and efficiency. A parallel crashworthiness simulation system based on graphics processing unit (GPU) architecture and the explicit finite element (FE) method is developed in this work. Implementation details with compute unified device architecture (CUDA) are considered. The entire parallel simulation system involves a parallel hierarchy-territory contact-searching algorithm (HITA) and a parallel penalty contact force calculation algorithm. Three basic GPU-based parallel strategies are suggested to meet the natural parallelism of the explicit FE algorithm. Two free GPU-based numerical calculation libraries, cuBLAS and Thrust, are introduced to decrease the difficulty of programming. Furthermore, a mixed array and a thread map to element strategy are proposed to improve the performance of the test pairs searching. The outer loop of the nested loop through the mixed array is unrolled to realize parallel searching. An efficient storage strategy based on data sorting is presented to realize data transfer between different hierarchies with coalesced access during the contact pairs searching. A thread map to element pattern is implemented to calculate the penetrations and the penetration forces; a double float atomic operation is used to scatter contact forces. The simulation results of the three different models based on the Intel Core i7-930 and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 demonstrate the precision and efficiency of this developed parallel crashworthiness simulation system.  相似文献

This paper proposes a novel analysis method of stochastic crack trajectory based on a dimension reduction approach. The developed method allows efficiently estimating the statistical moments, probability density function and cumulative distribution function of the crack trajectory for cracked elastic structures considering the randomness of the loads, material properties and crack geometries. First, the traditional dimension reduction method is extended to calculate the first four moments of the crack trajectory, in which the responses are eigenvectors rather than scalars. Then the probability density function and cumulative distribution function of the crack trajectory can be obtained using the maximum entropy principle constrained by the calculated moments. Finally, the simulation of the crack propagation paths is realized by using the scaled boundary finite element method. The proposed method is well validated by four numerical examples performed on varied cracked structures. It is demonstrated that this method outperforms the Monte Carlo simulation in terms of computational efficiency, and in the meanwhile, it has an acceptable computational accuracy.  相似文献

A node-based smoothed finite element method (NS-FEM) was recently proposed for the solid mechanics problems. In the NS-FEM, the system stiffness matrix is computed using the smoothed strains over the smoothing domains associated with nodes of element mesh. In this paper, the NS-FEM is further extended to more complicated visco-elastoplastic analyses of 2D and 3D solids using triangular and tetrahedral meshes, respectively. The material behavior includes perfect visco-elastoplasticity and visco-elastoplasticity with isotropic hardening and linear kinematic hardening. A dual formulation for the NS-FEM with displacements and stresses as the main variables is performed. The von-Mises yield function and the Prandtl–Reuss flow rule are used. In the numerical procedure, however, the stress variables are eliminated and the problem becomes only displacement-dependent. The numerical results show that the NS-FEM has higher computational cost than the FEM. However the NS-FEM is much more accurate than the FEM, and hence the NS-FEM is more efficient than the FEM. It is also observed from the numerical results that the NS-FEM possesses the upper bound property which is very meaningful for the visco-elastoplastic analyses which almost have not got the analytical solutions. This suggests that we can use two models, NS-FEM and FEM, to bound the solution, and can even estimate the global relative error of numerical solutions.  相似文献

This work is the second paper of two companion ones. Both of them show the use of a new version of the Probabilistic Transformation Method (PTM) for finding the probability density function (pdf) of a limited number of response quantities in the transformations of static random inputs. This is made without performing multi-dimensional integrals of the response total joint pdf for saturating the non-interested variables. While in the first paper the linear transformations have been considered, in the present one some nonlinear systems are taken into account. In particular, first the case when the loads on a linear structural system are a nonlinear combination of static random inputs is studied. Then the attention is placed on the case of nonlinear structural systems, for which the new version of the PTM allows to determine approximated, but accurate, results.  相似文献

Magnetic impulse welding, which is uniquely advantageous in welding heterologous pipe fittings, is a new welding technology based on high-speed magnetic impulse shaping and solid-phase diffusion welding. The impact velocity of the welding points of Al–Fe heterologous pipe fittings was studied by combining numerical simulation and technological test with the assistance of constitutive relations of 3A21Al alloy under a high strain rate. The momentary movement speeds when the outer tube (A1) impacts the inner tube under four different voltages were analyzed to obtain the critical voltage for welding inner and outer tubes. The speed of the welding points of the outer tube noticeably increased with the rise in the discharge voltage. The weld interfaces of both the inner and outer tubes produced regular zigzag waves when the impact velocity reached 350 m/s. The energy spectrum analysis revealed that pipes undergo severe deformation under high-speed impact, and the increased temperature enhances the activity of the atoms among other elements, thus producing a surface mass flow under strong impact and granulated substances.  相似文献

Foam-filled thin-walled structure and multi-cell thin-walled structure both have recently gained attentions for their excellent energy absorption capacity. As an integrator of the above two kinds of thin-walled structures, foam-filled multi-cell thin-walled structure (FMTS) may have extremely excellent energy absorption capacity. This paper firstly investigates the energy absorption characteristics of FMTSs by nonlinear finite element analysis through LS-DYNA. Based on the numerical results, it can be found that the FMTS with nine cells has the most excellent crashworthiness characteristics in our considered cases. Thus, the FMTSs with cell number n=9 are then optimized by adopting a multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm to achieve maximum specific energy absorption (SEA) capacity and minimum peak crushing force (PCF). During the process of multi-objective optimization design (MOD), four kinds of commonly used metamodels, namely polynomial response surface (PRS), radial basis function (RBF), Kriging (KRG) and support vector regression (SVR) for SEA and PCF, are established to reduce the computational cost of crash simulations by the finite element method. In order to choose the best metamodel for optimization, the accuracies of these four kinds of metamodels are compared by employing the error evaluation indicators of the relative error (RE) and the root mean square error (RMSE). The optimal design of FMTSs with nine cells is an extremely excellent energy absorber and can be used in the future vehicle body.  相似文献

One of the main parameters in magnetic pulse welding (MPW) is the requirement of certain distance/spacing called “air gap” between the two sheets or tubes to be welded. This work presents means to alleviate this constraint through stamped humps in one of the sheets. The sheets remain in contact all over except at humps where a local air gap is sufficient to generate impact velocity required to produce spot welds using electromagnetic energy. The developed approach has been validated on the heterogeneous assembly of AA1199 aluminum to EN 355 steel. The microstructural analysis revealed that the weld interface is wavy and the waves are in two opposite directions from the center. Quasi-static tension–shear tests validated the joint efficiency of spot welds.  相似文献

Introducing thickness gradient in cross-section is a quite promising approach to increase the energy absorption efficiency and crashworthiness performance of thin-walled structures. This paper addresses the deformation mode and energy absorption of square tubes with graded thickness during axial loading. Experimental study is firstly carried out for square tubes with two types of thickness distributions and numerical analyses are then conducted to simulate the experiment. Both experimental and numerical results show that the introduction of graded thickness in cross-section can lead to up to 30–35% increase in energy absorption efficiency (specific energy absorption) without the increase of the initial peak force. In addition, structural optimization of the cross-section of a square tube with graded thickness is solved by response surface method and the optimization results validate that increasing the material in the corner regions can indeed increase the energy absorption efficiency of a square tube.  相似文献

The rapid growth of data and the requirement of designers to track massive data to obtain design stimuli have posed challenges to conceptual design, thereby promoting the development of data-driven design. Concept networks precisely capture design information from a large volume of unstructured and heterogeneous textual data and saliently decrease time and labor cost for designers to read texts, which creates new opportunities for developing a smart product design system. To advance data-driven design, this study proposes the novel function-structure concept network (FSCN) construction method, which combines sentence parsing and word/phrase extraction to integrate functional and structural information. Furthermore, a network analysis method is proposed to explore design information associations that contain both explicit and implicit associations together and thereby recommend them simultaneously to designers as inspirational stimuli to support design ideation. This approach can enhance designers' capabilities to build associations between design information, conceive new design ideas during conceptual design, and increase creativity for solving design problems. The proposed FSCN construction and analysis method can be used as an auxiliary tool to visualize associations among design information so as to inspire idea generation in the early stage of conceptual design. The classification of imbalanced data is a major challenge for machine learning. In this paper, we presented a fuzzy total margin based support vector machine (FTM-SVM) method to handle the class imbalance learning (CIL) problem in the presence of outliers and noise. The proposed method incorporates total margin algorithm, different cost functions and the proper approach of fuzzification of the penalty into FTM-SVM and formulates them in nonlinear case. We considered an excellent type of fuzzy membership functions to assign fuzzy membership values and got six FTM-SVM settings. We evaluated the proposed FTM-SVM method on two artificial data sets and 16 real-world imbalanced data sets. Experimental results show that the proposed FTM-SVM method has higher G_Mean and F_Measure values than some existing CIL methods. Based on the overall results, we can conclude that the proposed FTM-SVM method is effective for CIL problem, especially in the presence of outliers and noise in data sets.  相似文献
